Month of the Military Child

Children play an important role in the military.

April is designated as the Month of the Military Child, underscoring the important role military children play in the armed forces community. Sponsored by the Department of Defense Military Community and Family Policy, the Month of the Military Child is a time to applaud military families and their children for the daily sacrifices they make and the challenges they overcome. In keeping with this tradition the founder of Combat Boots 2 The Boardroom, Lynnetta Smith, was able to get both the Governor of Georgia and the Mayor of Richmond Hill to designate April as the “Month of the Military Child,” for the state.

Within the month of April is “Purple Up! For Military Kids.” It is held on April 15th of each year, and is a day for Department of Defense Education Activity communities to wear purple to show support and thank military children for their strength and sacrifices. Wearing purple is a visible way to show support and thank military youth for their strength and sacrifices. Purple indicates that all branches of the military are supported. Air Force blue, Army green, Navy blue, Marine red, and Coast Guard blue all are thought to combine together as a single color, purple.

CB2TB will be sponsoring Purple In Power, as our way of showing our support military children during April, the Month of the Military Child. One part of this initiative is we are asking everyone to wear purple on April 15th.  What better way to show support and thank military children for their strength and sacrifices than to for those of us outside of these communities to wear purple on this day as well. So spread the word and make sure you and all your friends and family know to wear your purple on April 15th. Take pictures of yourself, friends and families, as well as your organization wearing purple and post them to social media using the hashtags #purpleupformilitarykids and #CB2TB. We will also, be updating this page to highlight more events being sponsored by Combat Boots 2 The Boardroom to celebrate military children.
